Hey'all!
So I guess I haven't been updating much lately. Also, I see that I haven't been doing any reviews of late. I have a few things that I could write about. Maroon5's Hands All Over was a good listen, so is Bruno Mar's Doo Wops and Hooligans. But what I really wanna rview right now is, drum roll please!
500 Days of Summer.
Did I hear a whatafark? Yeap, you heard no wrong! 500 Days of Summer. This was prolly a long forgotten movie, but what the heck! I haven’t watched it back then, and I finally did now, so let’s do a review on that. On a side note, thanks @Rachel Vijayan for the movie.
Back on the review, I have to say, this movie is soooo under rated. Like seriously, this is one of the well composed movie I’ve seen. It’s a story about a boy meets girl, but a story like none other. I couldn’t agree more to that. It starts of with a naration of these 2 individuals, Tom and Summer. See, Tom was a hopeless romantic, he’s the one who sees ‘The One’ and stuff like that. Summer on the other hand was the sceptical, the Non Believer if I’d say so myself. They were quite the opposite people. Early in the show, it introduces us the characters and heck, they even show the end of the show at the very beginning. Anyways, from the start, we all know what’s gonna happen to the both of them, they’ll ge together and they’ll be breaking up. It starts with a ring on Summer’s finger, one would assume they’ll get married, eventually. WRONG!
So the show doesn’t really show the stuff in a chronological order, which is rather the type of show I like. I like to see the middle parts, the end, the beginning, all jumbled up making my mind think in some twisted way. Heck, I even planned to write a book that way, refer to previous post. =)
So basically the show is about 500 days from the 1st day Tom met Summer. His transition from a Hopeless Romantic, to eventually the Non Believer. There is never such thing as fate, the one, the right person, true love and love at first sight. One cannot help but wonder what ‘Love’ means at a certain point. Things take a twisted turn when the Non Believer turn the Hopeless Romantic. So Summer agreed, eventually that Tom was right about love, the Hopeless Romantic, but what he was wrong about was her. Then came Autumn....
The ratings?
8/10 For originality, running away from the cliche chick flicks. Also note that the show was filled with great tunes that could qualify as an album on their own. I can’t help myself but smiling everytime I see Tom and Summer together. The actor could’ve been more expressive tho. But I think playing that part that way works quite well too. Zoey Deschannel is awesome.
